The Canary Islands are famous for their beaches and many of the best of them are around Fuerteventura. With its location just off the North Africa coast, this Spanish island has sunshine all year and beautiful white sand beaches that make it perfect for the beach fan vacation.
One of the best beaches in Fuerteventura is Caleta de Fuste. The beach is also known as Shank’s Shark and is over 800 metres in length. It is a popular spot with families, having a relaxed and fun vibe with soft, golden sands.
Sotavento Beach has plenty of room for everyone, stretching for 17 miles! The beach is in the south-east of the island so is known for calm seas. But the steady trade winds also make it ideal if you love surfing or kite surfing.
Corralejo Beach is in the north of the island and is accessible by bus if you aren’t driving during your vacation. It is just next to the resort of Corralejo and is also beside a national park.
Cofete Beach is a little less accessible but worth the trip. There’s a 20km dirt track leading to it that most standard cars won’t handle. But the journey is worth it for a stunning beach with the Jandia Mountains as the backdrop.
Esmeralda Beach is one of the island’s most popular due to golden sand and very gentle waves. It is the classic tropical island beach that is great for swimming and for vising with the family.
